Principal Message….

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to our Year 4 students who prepared and received the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the past fortnight. Thanks to Joaney, Apeksha, Ethan and Andrea for preparing and guiding them through this important faith milestone.

It was lovely to see so many families around our school for Learning Conversations. It was a great way to start the school year and for our teachers to get to know our students and their families.

We have also had our Prep 2025 Information Evening and open tours. We already have a large number of enrolments for Prep 2025. If you are a family currently in our community with a child who will begin Prep in 2025, please fill in and return your enrolment forms ASAP to avoid missing a place. A reminder also that fees and levies for current enrolments are now due.

Many of your children may have been coming home excited about the new learning they are undertaking this year. SFA has been on a journey for the past 3 years to evolve our teaching using evidence and research-based practice to meet the needs of ALL students. You will be hearing a lot in the coming months about the Science of Learning and how this research will positively impact the way we teach and the results we will achieve for each student. Our Learning and Assessment Leaders will be running forums and workshops beginning next term for our parent community to better understand why we are doing what we do. Look out for more information regarding this in the coming months.

We have a busy few weeks ahead before the end of term as we prepare to undertake our School Review. School Review occurs every 5 years for all schools. We will be reaching out to our parent community to be a part of the Review process and provide important feedback that will help us understand what we are doing well and where we can be doing better.

A flyer has recently been sent out via Operoo regarding activities across the Easter period for our school. We hope to see many families at our Easter Bonnet Parade and the Stations of the Cross on Holy Thursday, our last day of school.

On Thursday, the 21st of March, we celebrate Harmony Day. Harmony Week is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. Students are encouraged to wear a touch of orange to school on Thursday to show their support. On Friday, the 22nd of March, we will have a special African Drumming Performance incursion to help Celebrate Harmony Day.

We recently welcomed Marty & Carley from Inform and Empower to the school to present to families. If you missed the session or would like to review any topics that were covered, they have now shared a presentation and resource pack with us.

Child Car Seat Concerns.

It is the law for all children up to the age of 7 to be in a child restraint or booster seat when travelling in a vehicle.

Choosing the right child restraint for your child will depend on their age and size. See Child restraints, booster seats and seat belt readiness [PDF 3.9 Mb]

To keep your child safe, the restraint must also be properly adjusted, fastened, and fitted to the vehicle. Please ensure all children are restrained before driving away from school. If your child cannot quickly put on their seat belt, please park outside the school and walk into the school to collect your child/ren.
