Term 2: Week 4 2024
Mothers Day Event tomorrow 10th May
Principal Message….
Dear Parents/Carers,
I extend my congratulations to all the students who participated in our recent cross country event. Their determination, perseverance, and sportsmanship were truly inspiring to witness. A special mention goes to Mia Debrincat whose outstanding performance exemplified the spirit of St Francis and camaraderie that defines our school community. Well done, Mia on coming first in the 11 year old category, what a remarkable achievement!
I also want to take a moment to acknowledge our Year 6 students who recently participated in a Confirmation Immersion day as part of their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. This significant step in their spiritual journey reflects a commitment to deepening their faith and embracing the values of compassion, love, and service. We are proud of your dedication and we stand with you as you continue on this meaningful path of faith.
Tomorrow we welcome our Mums and special people to our Mothers day breakfast. We look forward to sharing breakfast together (details below). As we approach Mother's Day, I would like to extend warm wishes to all the mothers and special people in the lives of our students. Your love, support, and guidance are invaluable, shaping the hearts and minds of our young learners every day. Happy Mother's Day to each and every one of you. May your day be filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments with your loved ones.
Thank you to our entire St. Francis community for your ongoing support and collaboration. Together, we continue to nurture a vibrant and inclusive learning environment where every student can flourish and thrive.
Warm regards,
Michelle
To help our students prepare for their upcoming Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday 1st June, this morning, Father Jude joined our Year Six Community. It was wonderful to spend time in a Pentecost meditation, and Fr Jude helped us to understand the significance of the Sacraments and how we can draw on the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit throughout our lives.
Mother's Day Breakfast
Thank you to everyone who placed an order for our Mother's Day Breakfast. Today, your child is bringing home tokens to match your order. Please ensure that you bring these along tomorrow morning from 7:30 to collect your food. Please also note, there is no coffee, tea or juice token, as drinks are included with every order and they are available for collection once you have your food. We look forward to celebrating our Wonderful Mothers here at St Francis with you soon, and we thank God for the Gift of Mary, who is a mother for us all. Please enter via the pedestrian crossing double doors entry.
At St Francis, we are committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment where every student can thrive. Here are some key principles we stand by:
Respecting Everyone's Rights: We believe in upholding the rights of all students to learn, all teachers to teach effectively, and all members of our school community to feel safe and respected.
Linking Behaviour to Learning Experiences: We recognise that student behaviour is closely tied to the quality of their learning experiences. That's why we strive to provide purposeful, authentic, and relevant learning opportunities that challenge students appropriately, fostering positive behaviour in the process.
Promoting Personal Responsibility: We encourage our students to take ownership of their behaviour. We understand that behaviour stems from choices, whether conscious or unconscious, driven by their perception of fulfilling specific needs.
Consistent Expectations and Management: Our approach to behaviour management is grounded in consistent expectations. We usethe SFA Behaviour Matrix (see below) and Behaviour Management Process to ensure fairness and predictability for all students.
By working together as a community, we can continue to create an environment where every child feels supported, valued, and empowered to succeed. Thank you for your partnership in this journey!
The District Cross Country carnival was held at President's Park in Werribee yesterday afternoon. Forty students from SFA, across years 3 to 6 were selected for the 2024 team and each of them did an amazing job completing their 2km or 3km runs. As a school we placed 5th out of 9 schools which is a better result than ever!! Well done SFA! A special shout out to Mia Debrincat who came first in the girls 11 year old run. Congratulations Mia, what an achievement!! Everyone from the team deserves a big pat on the back for their perseverance and stamina and the respectful and responsible way they represented our school. Congratulations to the following students who also received ribbons for their age groups;
Winta Abraham
Ashton Butttigieg
Chloe Grant
Hannah Camilleri
Emilia Shaw
Awec Telar
Ishmael Kamara
Vihaan Desai
Thanks to parents, Samantha Grant and Jason Debrincat for their much appreciated assistance at the event.
We look forward to another successful year at the Cross Country in 2025!
Triple Zero Challenge
Do your children know how to get help in the event of an emergency? While we have shared this app before, it’s just such a great resource that it is worth sharing again. This game teaches children how to call emergency services - 000. Children learn about important safety messages, hear what happens when you call triple zero and learn about the details they might be asked for in an emergency.
Even if your children have already played this game, it is a good one to come back to and play again.
Child Car Seat Concerns.
It is the law for all children up to the age of 7 to be in a child restraint or booster seat when travelling in a vehicle.
Choosing the right child restraint for your child will depend on their age and size. See Child restraints, booster seats and seat belt readiness [PDF 3.9 Mb]
To keep your child safe, the restraint must also be properly adjusted, fastened, and fitted to the vehicle. Please ensure all children are restrained before driving away from school.
If your child cannot quickly put on their seat belt, please park outside the school and walk into the school to collect your child/ren.
