Principal Message….
Dear Parents/Carers,
I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to our Year 4 students who received the Sacrament of Eucharist. This is such a significant milestone in their spiritual journey, and it was wonderful to witness their reverence and joy on this special day.
Our Book Week celebrations were nothing short of spectacular! It was fantastic to see the creativity and enthusiasm from both students and staff. The effort that went into the costumes for our Book Week parade was truly impressive, bringing to life some of our favourite characters and stories. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event such a success.
Looking ahead, we have our upcoming Father’s Day event on Friday, the 30th of August. We have planned an afternoon filled with fun sports activities, and it promises to be a wonderful way to celebrate the dads and father figures in our community. We look forward to seeing you there for what will surely be a memorable day.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Together, we are creating a nurturing and inspiring environment for our students to thrive.
Take care, Michelle
Warm regards,
Michelle
BOOK WEEK 2024
Our Book Week celebrations were a huge success, filled with excitement and creativity! A special highlight was the visit from children's author Kym Lardner, who entertained our Year 3 students with his captivating stories, cartoon drawings, and catchy songs.
Of course, the crowd-favourite Book Week Costume Parade stole the show, with students and staff showcasing their incredible costumes inspired by beloved book characters.
It was a joyful event that brought our school community together, celebrating our love for reading and storytelling. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this Book Week one to remember!
On Friday 20th September students at SFA are asked to donate a block of chocolate which will go towards the Arcade Game prizes for our Parish Fete on Saturday 19th October. In exchange for their chocolate blocks, students are able to come to school wearing their favourite football or sports team colours. There will be a Footy Parade at 9am which parents and carers are most welcome to attend.
The children will also be participating in a football 'Longest Kick' competition during their Physical Education lessons with Brian and Sally, and the Staff at St Francis will also be competing to see who can kick a football the longest distance on Footy Day.
If you would like for your child to enjoy a Hotdog and Juice Box lunch for $5.00 on Footy Day, please place your order in QKR by Wednesday the 11th of September at 11am. Thank you to the PIP Team for providing this service for our students.
We hope you can join in the fun.
Kind Regards,
Andrea Mansour.
Religious Education and Parent Community Partnerships Leader.
Throughout our school, we aim to strengthen our culture for learning and building professional development. We are fortunate to have such a skilled and active staff at SFA. We learn from each other continuously.
We have an Instructional Coaching program where teachers are provided with opportunities to build pedagogy.
This refers to teaching effectively - What am I saying? What am I doing? How can I make this better? How are the students responding? What can I put in place?
Michella works with teachers in 1:1 sessions on Monday or Friday and is in class Tuesday - Thursday to co-teach, observe, model or cover classes.
Carmela works with our co-educators to co-teach, observe, model or cover classes throughout the week.
All other leaders also work with specialist staff.
“Teachers get frequent, individualised feedback on their teaching.”
Congratulations to our Year 4 students who received Jesus for the first time in the Sacrament of First Eucharist, and to our children of other faiths who also received a special blessing from Fr Jude during our celebration on Saturday 10th August at St James the Apostle Church. May the love of God be with you always and may you grow in the grace and peace of the Eucharist all the days of your life
