Principal Message….
Dear SFA Community,
I would like to thank the entire St. Francis community for your incredible support during our recent parish fete. Your enthusiasm and involvement made it a truly special day for everyone. A special thank you to our dedicated teachers who ran the stalls and actively participated throughout the event – your hard work and commitment helped make the fete a huge success!
It is that time of the year when we start to share staff announcements. We bid farewell to our Year 6 teacher, Ashlee. Ashlee joined us four years ago as a Learning Support Officer and quickly grew into her role as a graduate teacher. Over the years, she has continuously developed her skills, becoming an outstanding educator and valued staff member. Ashlee is ready to embrace her next teaching challenge as she moves to Geelong. We wish her all the best at her new school, confident that she will continue to thrive and inspire.
Next year, we are excited to welcome the following staff:
Isabella Loverso joins our teaching team as a new graduate teacher. Isabelle is eager to begin her career with us, and we look forward to her becoming a part of our vibrant community. Isabella has been a Learning Support Officer at Corpus Christi for the past two years while completing her studies. She is excited to get to know our community and embrace the Science of Learning and our current approaches to learning.
Sandra Malavisi is an experienced early years educator and mum of 3, who is excited to move into the primary education space. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her teaching and is enthused about using this to ensure all our children get a great start to their education. Sandra values community and her faith and is passionate about connecting these two aspects of her life with her teaching.
Daniel Bean joins our staff after a year of teaching internationally whilst travelling the globe with his partner who is also a teacher. Daniel has spent the past year based in London and teaching at variety of schools to build his capacity and skill in various settings. He is looking forward to learning about the evidence based approaches and learn our PBL processes in the early years of his career.
Finally, congratulations to Sarah Devine, our current Year 6 teacher, who will be stepping into the role of Learning and Assessment Leader at SFA next year. Sarah is a talented and passionate educator with a strong focus on the Science of Learning. In her new role, she looks forward to supporting our teachers in continuously improving their expertise and enhancing our students' learning outcomes.
You will see many of these new faces in our community throughout the rest of the term as part of their induction.
Enjoy the long weekend and some much needed rest and relaxation before the craziness of the end of year truly begins!
Take care, Michelle
The Year 4 students have been putting in great effort into our SFA Urban Farm, diligently weeding, watering, and tending to the crops. Their hard work has paid off with a bumper harvest of baby beetroots, silverbeet, strawberries, and spring onions.
We are now eagerly awaiting the maturation of our corn cobs, mixed lettuce crops, and a variety of herbs. The Year 4s are learning a lot about horticulture and caring for our environment. It’s an exciting time for our garden, and the students are proud to see their efforts producing such wonderful results!
Visual Arts
In Visual Arts, our Grade 3 and Grade 4 students are busily working on drawings to enter into the Wyndham LIT 2025 event, and it’s shaping up to be an exciting opportunity for them to showcase their creativity. Wyndham LIT is a fantastic local event where students’ artwork is projected, literally lighting up the night for the whole community to enjoy.
This experience not only allows our students to express their creativity but also gives them a chance to have their work featured in a public space, sharing it with the wider community. We are incredibly proud of their efforts so far and look forward to the moment when their work will be illuminated for all to see!

World Mission Month
October is World Mission Month and we want to send out a big thank you to everyone who supported our Year 4s, who organised our whole school 'Sock it to poverty' day, to raise much needed funds for the Missionary Society of St Paul (MSSP). It was wonderful to have Fr Jude, Fr John and Brother Linh, who belong to the MSSP, come along and visit with the Year 4’s to tell them about the wonderful work the MSSP does to reduce the impact of poverty around the world.
Fr Jude, Fr John and Brother Linh shared their experiences of working with people in the Philippines, and it was great to learn about how the money we raise, is helping to improve the lives of people in other parts of the world who don’t have houses, enough food, or access to education without our support.
